Introduced in April 2008, The Michigan Film Tax Credits offer 40% cash rebates, with an additional 2% added for filming in one of the 103 core communities.

$2 million salary cap per employee per film production. There is no other cap and no sunset.

This new incentive has already lured more than 60 features and made – for – TV movies this year. The projects include upcoming films as well as recently wrapped movies such as Clint Eastwood’s “Gran Torino”, a drama about a Korean Vet who befriends his young neighbor; “Whip It!” a Drew Barrymore – directed comedy staring Ellen Page of “ Juno” fame; and the sci-fi thriller “Butterfly Effect: Revelation.”

Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures all have films lined up to shoot in Michigan this fall.
